Let creativity bloom
When relocating to the state-of-the-art Lyyra building complex, in Helsinki, IBM wanted to create a relaxed, unique environment and meaningful, intuitive work for all. The office interior design was set to reflect the innovative spirit of this Fortune 500 Company and inspire employees and visitors alike. Together with their architectural agency, they selected four artists to contribute to this vision, and they wanted my artwork on the 9m wide grand entrance wall.
The power of flowers
While flowers may sound like a mundane subject, it's no coincidence that blossoms are often used as a metaphor for success. They symbolize growth, triumphs, and transience, reminding us of the power of presence. Importantly, flowers bring us joy regardless of age, gender, and background. IBM liked my proposal of the dynamic composition of giant, graphic flower portraits so much that ‘Flora’ became the overall concept for the entire office gallery.
Recently, this mural painting was long-listed for the World Illustration Awards. There were 5,300 entries.
IBM’s Helsinki HQ stands as a testament to the transformative power of art in modern workspaces. My floral mural not only enhances the aesthetic quality of the office but also supports IBM's goal to foster creativity and well-being. It is a daily delight, I was told.
